Potato Ice Cubes To Brighten Skin

What don’t we do to get bright, even, glowing complexion? We spend hundreds in chemically composed cosmetics which make tall claims of giving us bright and fair skin in a blink of an eye. We also try those snazzy facials that purportedly have elements of the expensive metals such as flecks of gold or diamond particles. Some of us even opt for chemical peels, which are not only costlier but are dangerous for us as well.

Now that the summers are here in all their glory, and the sun is beating down hard, we need a quick fix that will polish our skin and give it the much-needed pick-me-up. But we need this without the added burden on our pockets. Before you think of making that trip to the makeup store, we have a cheaper solution for your summer skin woes. It’s our humble potato.

Yes, that little tuber that you are afraid to binge on because it would only lead you to pack on a few pounds. Turns out there are quite a few home remedies that make use of potato to give you a glowing complexion in no time. Want to know what they are? Read on!

To prepare this remedy you are going to need the following materials in the quantities mentioned below.

  • A few fresh potatoes
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice

Preparation

  • Extract the juice of the potatoes by blending them in a blender and then straining the juice using a muslin cloth or a sieve. Gather about half a cup of juice.
  • Now, transfer that juice in a small bowl and add the rest of the ingredients to it and mix them well.
  • Pour this watery mixture in an ice tray and put it in the freezer overnight to get potato-lemon ice cubes.
  • If your skin is feeling pretty dehydrated and malnourished, you can rub these on your face before going to bed. Do so in a circular motion, so that the potato water is massaged into your skin and is able to work on it overnight.

  • Now pour the resultant watery mixture in an ice tray and leave it in the freezer overnight.

  • Use these coconut milk-potato juice ice cubes before going to bed. Rub them on your face for about 5–10 minutes in circular motion, and then wipe away the sticky residue with a damp towel. The liquid that seeps into your skin will repair it from inside while you sleep.

Potato juice is the main ingredient in all these remedies. It has been found that this edible tuber is a great skin rejuvenating agent as the vitamin C, starch and enzymes present in it provide nutrition to our skin. Besides, its alkaline nature helps in providing our skin with a youthful appearance. It even provides relief to tired, puffy eyes. Considering all this, it wouldn’t be wrong to consider potato as a superfood for the skin (3).

Try these remedies and tell us how they worked out for you. Though if you have sensitive skin which is prone to allergic reactions, then we would recommend you use these after consulting your dermatologist.
